To discover more promising young craftsmen, the Awards Presentation Ceremony of the 3rd Hong Kong Construction Skills Competition was successfully held recently, presenting the awards to the winners in various trades of Youth Group and Fundamental Group.
Ir Albert CHENG, Executive Director of the CIC, congratulated all the awardees and encouraged them to pursue a skill-based career. He highlighted the Fundamental Group competition this year, which allowed secondary school students to explore construction skills and plan their futures. He wished all the awardees success in becoming outstanding craftsmen and building a better future.
Dr. Morgan YANG, Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC), emphasised the importance of skills for the sustainable development of the construction industry. He expressed hope that the WorldSkills Hong Kong Team can achieve great results in WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, bringing honour to Hong Kong and the construction industry.
The winners of Youth Group shared that the competition provided an opportunity to exchange skills with other outstanding participants. They also appreciated the guidance from HKIC’s instructors, helping them to excel in the competition. The winners of the Fundamental Group expressed gratitude to their secondary school teachers for encouraging their participation and experiencing the construction industry skills.
Several participants have already applied for the WorldSkills Hong Kong Competition 2025, set to take place in May, aspiring to represent Hong Kong in the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. Follow HKIC for updates on the WorldSkills Competition and the finalists of Hong Kong!
